Create properties and add units

Use this when you are setting up a new building, apartment, compound, or lease property.

What it is

This article explains how to create a property, add units, and understand the vacant or occupied status markers.

When to use it

Use this when you are onboarding a new building, apartment block, or any other rental property into Tenant.

How to do it

  1. Open Property and select Create Property.
  2. Fill in the property name, type, description, address, and any other requested fields, then save.
  3. Open the property details page and choose Add Unit.
  4. Enter the unit name, rent, deposit, and notes, then save each unit.
  5. Use the property details page to review which units are vacant before you invite a tenant.

What success looks like

The property appears in the list, each unit is saved under that property, and vacant units are ready for onboarding.

What to do if something goes wrong

  • If Add Property is blocked, your account may be in view-only mode or your plan may have reached the property allowance.
  • If a unit will not save, confirm the property exists first and that you are editing the correct property record.
  • If a unit already shows as occupied, vacate the current tenant before trying to onboard another one.
